1. Policy Statement

Gorleston Badminton Social Club is committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment where everyone feels safe and valued. We believe that badminton should be accessible to all adults, regardless of background, identity, or ability.

2. Our Commitment

We are proud to promote equality, embrace diversity, and encourage inclusion in everything we do. We welcome:

People of all sexual orientations, gender identities, races, faiths, and cultures
Disabled participants and those with additional support needs
Beginners and returning players who may lack confidence
Anyone seeking a friendly, casual environment to enjoy badminton
We do not tolerate any form of discrimination, harassment, or exclusion.

3. Accessibility and Participation

The Club operates on a monthly membership basis at £18 per person, due on the 10th of each month for the month ahead. This helps us cover the cost of venue hire, shuttlecocks, and equipment while keeping the club affordable.
Members are added to a WhatsApp group and asked to register their attendance each week by responding to a simple poll. This ensures fair access to available court time.
If anyone requires additional support to participate (e.g. accessibility needs or alternative communication methods), we encourage them to let us know so we can make reasonable adjustments.

4. Responsibility and Behaviour

All members are expected to treat one another with courtesy, patience, and respect—on and off the court.
The Club will take any reports of discriminatory behaviour seriously and address them in line with our complaints procedure.
We are continually learning and open to feedback from members on how to make the Club more inclusive.

5. Policy Review

This policy will be reviewed annually, or in response to changes in legislation or guidance from Badminton England.
