Gorleston Badminton Social Club Constitution

1. Name
The name of the Club shall be Gorleston Badminton Social Club (“the Club”).
2. Purpose and Objectives
The Club exists to provide opportunities for adults aged 18 and over to play non-competitive, recreational badminton in a safe and inclusive environment. The Club is a non-profit organisation and shall operate for the enjoyment and benefit of its members.
3. Membership

Membership is open to all adults aged 18 and over, regardless of age, gender, race, disability, sexual orientation, religion or belief.

All members are expected to adhere to the Club’s policies and code of conduct.

The Club reserves the right to suspend or terminate membership if a member acts in breach of these policies.
4. Management of the Club

The Club is managed by the Founder and Volunteer Coordinator, currently Harry Stannard, who is responsible for the day-to-day running of the Club.

As the Club grows, the Founder may appoint other volunteers to assist with duties.

The Club does not operate a formal committee or coaching structure.
5. Safeguarding

The Club is committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for all members.

As an adult-only club, there are no juniors present. However, the Club will adhere to safeguarding best practices and adopt the relevant Badminton England policies.
6. Finances

The Club is run on a non-profit basis.

Any money received from member contributions (e.g. session fees) shall be used solely to cover venue hire, shuttlecocks, equipment, and other operating costs.

No individual shall benefit financially from the Club’s activities.
7. Data Protection

Personal information collected from members will be held securely and used only for the administration of the Club and communication with members, in line with UK GDPR regulations.

Members’ details will not be shared with third parties without consent.

9. Dissolution
If the Club is dissolved, any remaining funds shall be donated to a local charity or community sports initiative, as agreed by the Founder.
10. Amendments to the Constitution

This constitution may be amended by the Founder, provided changes are made in the best interest of the Club and its members.

All members will be notified of any significant changes.
